Dell is pleased to announce the release of a new line of PowerEdge servers, along with OpenManage Server Administrator (OMSA), version 5.0. Full details are at the official Dell press release, here: http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/corp/pressoffice/en/2006/ 2006_06_07_rr_001?c=us&l=en&s=corp The purpose of this note is to let everybody know that the unofficial(*) Dell yum repository at http://linux.dell.com/repo/software/ is now updated with the latest OMSA version. Please let us know if there are any difficulties with the repository via this mailing list. Anybody who has installed previous versions using this repository should be able to seamlessly upgrade to the new version. Installation instructions are at http://linux.dell.com/repo/software/. Supported operating systems are: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 SUSE Enterprise Linux 9, SP3 Briefly, to use the repository to install OMSA, you need only run these commands: 1) rpm -e openipmi (This is a workaround for a potential installation issue. Openipmi will be re-installed) 2) wget -q -O - http://linux.dell.com/yum/software/bootstrap.sh | bash 3) up2date -i srvadmin-all 4) (optional) up2date -i srvadmin-racX (where X is the type of RAC you have installed) -- Michael Brown * Unofficial: This means that Dell technical support will disclaim all knowledge of this repository.
