Dell - Internal Use - Confidential Dell has enhanced RACADM capabilities because it does not require any OS agents and can be used to configure and update iDRAC, BIOS, PERC (Power Edge RAID Controller), and Dell supported NICs. Omconfig is still supported in order to not break existing customer processes but the recommendation going forward is to use RACADM whether in-band via the OS or out-of-band over a dedicated management network. This is *not* aimed at Chandrasekhar or anyone in particular, I'm just trying to understand the current climate, nor is this confrontational, just inquisitive. It used to be that the 'omconfig' command was *the* way to do things and I was told that it had fallen out of favor with the Dell internal people and that we're supposed to be using the racadm commands. So, in short, which is it? :) Is there any sort of recomended route for navigating between these tools, when to use which on what systems and what the future holds for them?
