how to obtain SMART data from drives connected to H700?

I have a H700 controller with 8 SATA drives connected. I want to be able
to look at the SMART attributes of each drive to monitor for health. In
the past, with PERC6 controller, I would do something like this:

# smartctl -a -d megaraid,0 /dev/sda

Where "0" was the 1st drive in the array represented by /dev/sda. This
for some reason is not working on the H700:

# smartctl -a -d megaraid,0 /dev/sda
smartctl 6.2 2013-07-26 r3841 [x86_64-linux-3.10.0-327.4.4.el7.x86_64]
(local build)

Smartctl open device: /dev/sda [megaraid_disk_00] failed: INQUIRY failed

There is also one additional difference. In the past, I had a 8 spindle
RAID5 array as /dev/sda. I am currently doing a 1 spindle RAID-0 as
/dev/sda. Using this as a method to access the drives in a JBOD fashion.

Any ideas?
