FWIW, i strongly deter any of my users from configuring a machine that's not fully "balanced".
Unfortunately, that's hard here on the Epyc Gen II where you have to use 8 DIMMs and 8GB is the smallest.
(so a 2P server has at least 128GB of RAM, even if you don't need it)
