Anyone ever used a PCI to PCIe bridge before?

Hi,

I want to move up to a modern motherboard but I'm stuck with a couple NI 
PCI-GPIB cards so time has stopped for me at a 5th gen Asus M5A97 
motherboard for its two PCI slots.  The NI PCIe cards are still pricey 
on eBay while the PCI ones are dirt cheap.

Has anyone tried something like this?
