As far as I can tell the GRX5xx, 6xx, and 7xx series are ALL on the same motherboard with everything EXACTLY the same except what they throw into the machine. I can confirm I've personally upgraded my 600K to 1.5GB of Ram (has 2 slots) and a 2.4Ghz processor. I dug around my warranty and called Sony and they said so long as I don't hurt anything I can change these items w/o violating my warranty -- albeit if anything ever has problems, I plan on taking what I've added OUT and putting in the OLD parts. I'm curious if these systems can go up to 2GB, I suspect they may be able to -- but there may be a bios limitation on this??? Also, can anyone confirm the rumour I've heard that these mobo's have a daughter-board for the video chipset? Meaning we could potentially upgrade the video card?? PS: I ordered a "replacement part" from Sony for a +/- DVDRW, I'm glad to say it came in good condition and works quite well -- I sent back my old DVD-RW w/ complaints and paid the extra money to get the upgraded replacement part instead.
