Hi, I've just installed Debian Woody, kernel-source-2.4.18, on a PCG-Z505JE and am slowly getting everything working. I've just got USB floppy read access using /dev/sda going. How do I format a floppy? fdformat uses floppy-drive only ioctls. Same with setfdparam. I don't mean write the filesystem data to it, but perform a `write track' in FDC 1772 terms. Google shows quite a few people ask this question, but didn't give any answers, including at returntonature.com. I can't believe it's `use a machine with a non-USB drive' since they'll be rare one day. Cheers, Ralph.
