Last I heard (last week that is) DRM & OpenGL acceleration is not working for Radeons in the 2.5 series yet. There was a posting on lkml about someone getting it working with 2.5.70-bk but then there were other problems. So if you want to play your games or have pretty screensavers then you need to stick with a 2.4.x kernel for now.
