OK.. I'll pose this a bit differently.  I went to my local CompUSA and
bought 2 SO-DIMM PC2100 RAM modules that were 512MB each.  They were
made by PNY.  When I put them in my Vaio, nothing happened.  The unit
would power up, but no RAM test, no Sony logo, or anything else.  Now
what I'm trying to figure out is should try a different brand (like
Kingston - the brand that is already in the Vaio) or just figure I'm
stuck at 512MB and that this particular Vaio won't take the RAM upgrade?
