/dev/dvd /dev/cdrom help?

Greets again,

Ok, I had these working initially and don't know what I've done since
then but NEITHER of them are working now...   at least half the time.


I looked around and couldn't find a decent howto setup on these for
linux on a Sony GRX600.   Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm trying to get the DVD & CD properties of my DVD-R/W working .. not
worrying about burning yet until I can get these working.  /dev/dvd and
/dev/cdrom are no longer showing up.
