It was Andy's kernel that I tried yesterday. The 
"orinoco_cs: RequestIRQ: Resource in use" bug occurs in his kernel
also. However, occasionally, I would not get this message and the card would
work okay. However, today the card hasn't worked even once.

The problem I have is that since I installed the ACPI patch, the fan seems to
be on all the time and it is loud as you have noticed. It would be nice to be
able to change the temperature thresholds at which the fan starts or stops.
