The support is excellent, but you have to do it yourself!

I now have every piece of hardward in my Vaio supported with the exception
of suspend to disk/memory.

IMHO, advantages of Gentoo for Vaio users:
1) All the relevant software seems to be already packaged.
2) Low level access means you can tweak as required.
3) Truly brilliant support both here and on Gentoo forums.
