That shouldn't be too hard to do... It doesn't sound like a driver
issue, though. It sounds like you need to write yourself a little
script. Just write a wrapper for spicctrl that records the brightness
level in a file somewhere, be sure to always use the wrapper, and then
have a startup script that reads that file and sets the brightness.
