As suggested by Charles, I downloaded the package installed it
(rpm -Uvh --nodeps <pkg name> ) and it worked. My KDE is not panicing my
kernel anymore :)

btw.. the Mandrake 9.2beta1 wouldn't install on my computer.. it crashed
while booting from the first installation CD.

and thanks to Johnathan C. Sitte and Jack Coates, my acpi stuff is working
and reporting things correctly. Unfortunately KDE doesn't seem to have the
features to make use of them. I'm using the acpi CLI command.
