FAN makes big noisy all the time!

Hi,

I have a VAIO PCV-RX650. I installed both window XP and Linux on it.

During the boot the CPU fan is very noisy, but as soon as windows XP is up, 
the fan become quite.
But for Linux, the fan is always noisy. Is there a way to control the fan?

I use Redhat 9, the kernel is 2.4.20-8. I can go back the old Redhat 
versions if necessary.

Any help will be highly appreciated!
