Fixed my own issue... ;)

Hate to do this, but if anyone else has had similar
problems to the one I described about font size/type
in consoles (outside of X window), I scrounged about
and found this:

consolechars -f console8x8.pcf.gz

and added it to /etc/rc.d/rc.local at the end.

Now my consoles are perty frickin dense with info, and
not 25x80 (dare I say "DOS"ish?) style.  Now, I've got
to figure out a cool/easy way to paruse the fonts in
/usr/lib/kbd/consolefonts, and find a really kewl one,
then I'l be 3l33t!
