erratic v505 touchpad

This may be old news, but I figured it would be best for me to give you news you already knew than not give any at all. Concerning the erratic touchpad on the v505. I have been having a similar problem with 3 seperate v505's. It seems to be a hardware problem. The Fix: If you look closely at the touchpad, there is a ridge around it. With each machine that had a problem the touchpad slid up and the ridge was underneath the case. What I did to solve the problem was slide the touchpad down and place a small straight head screwdriver between the upper portion of the ridge and the case. This caused the touchpad to sit a bit low. I held the screwdriver there for about five minutes or so. This fixed my problem. The Source: The 3 users of the laptop that have been having problems had a tendency of holding the laptop, while open, by the lower corner(s). I've noticed my machine needs the fix less often since I've stopped making holding it like that. Hope this works for you. -rcollins
