RH9 Install on Sony Vaio PCG-SR27K

I am trying to install Red Hat Linux 9 on a Sony Vaio PCG-SR27K using
the PCGA-CD51A PCMCIA CD-ROM drive and the PCGA-UFD5 USB floppy drive.

I can boot from the PCMCIA CD-ROM but the boot process freezes after a
couple of graphical screens loading the usb storage driver and ohci1394.

I have made a floppy with the pcmciadd.img file, but this does not solve
the problem.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.
