As I said its a personal opinion.

I was trying to provide something to try. Wether the ACPI support is in
the kernel or as modules should not make any difference, but for
instance sonypi and the block device do not work for me when inserted in
the kernel, so I have it as a module.

The issue its not about space, but security, some daemons may try to
load the APM or others modules causing conflicts.

I do not use distros so I could not tell.

In any case, we are talking about things that I think do not concern
this list :P, but it is allways a pleasure to see other perspectives.

Changing the subject does anybody knows the average working temperature
for a Sony Vaio TR1(f)?
