Not all drivers play nice when loaded as modules, especially if parts of a 
subsystem are compiled into the kernel and parts are not.  In the case of 
ACPI, it is made up of battery, thermal, throttling, etc.  If battery is 
external and everything else is compiled into the kernel, then you could 
have problems...
