M.2 SSD on a T520?

Subject asks the question, has anyone tried booting and running from a 
M.2 SSD on a T510, T520, T530, etc. using the slot on the right front 
corner?

If yes, is there anything extra to know like how do you plug the hole 
after inserting the drive? and which side goes up.

I have not been able to find any info on this.
