Good point; I'd forgotten to mention RAM limits. Window manager comments below are right on. I have an ancient Gateway 486 with 20M of RAM (and a 120M hard drive). I managed to shoehorn a floppy-install of a slightly less ancient version of slackware into it (even including an X). That done, df says I have about 3% of the disk space remaining.
