That should work. You will still need to load the installation files
onto the other machine so that the MEPIS CD code can find them.

Also, look to see if MEPIS will install itself onto a hard drive. If
so, that might solve the problem.

There are a number of documents that you might find useful at the
Linux Documentation Project, http://www.tldp.org/. You should also
check the docs (including on line docs) for whatever distribution you
end up using.
