FWIW, I realize that Lithium Ion batteries are not supposed to have
memory like the old NiCad batteries, but based on my own experience,
I do believe that leaving the battery in place while the machine is on
AC power does reduce the battery life. Anecdotally, after roughly a
year of generally leaving the battery disconnected, my laptop battery
seemed to last about as long as it did when I bought it. A couple of
months ago I started being careless about disconnecting the battery
from the machine, and within about a month I noticed a drastic
difference in battery life -- it was cut by about half.

I make use of my battery only very infrequently... maybe a couple of
days in a given month, usually for less than 30 minutes at a time.

So, believe what you like...
