Good morging Manuel & the others, if he doesn't know he should try to learn really how to behave on a mailing list and should do this first. As I am not running this ml but beeing sure that some standard rules of netiquette have to be considered also hereon i post some links concerning this: * Read about what the term "netiquette" means at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netiquette * Read the informational RFC "netiquette guidelines" at http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1855.txt * See some email concerning rules (with examples) at http://www.iwillfollow.com/email.htm * and/or visit the various sites that you will find if you do a search with your favourite search engine on terms like "netiquette", "network etiquette", and so on... > However, the worst thing that a person can do is to find the answer and > just forget that people were trying to help him and never come back and > never say anything else. That is definitely wrong and egoistic. I fully agree. I find it truly annoying if I do a group search on a certain, say compilation problem with some program, and find someone posting exact my problem and some other guy answering him with some suggestion and then no reply on the suggestion follows. Often, if the problem is non-trivial and you don't understand the suggested solution immediatly it would help a lot if the questioner would leave a message if the suggestion had worked or not. In forums there is appended a "SOLVED" tag in the subject line. This can work on a mailing too, i think. -- Best regards, Fred Thiele GnuPG-Key: 0x4F6BE238 <[email protected]>
