[tlinux-users:07611] S3 suspend to RAM

G'day all.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P20. I'm running Ubuntu Breezy on it.

I'm having trouble getting it to work.

I thought it was the Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 giving me trouble, as I'm
using Nvidia's binary drivers, version 1.0-7667 (Breezy's default).

But after lots of firkling around, e.g. getting it to use nvidia_agp
instead of agpgart, turning AGP off, disabling vbetool POSTing the
nvidia video card (as "xset dpms force off" works and resumes whereas
"vbetool dpms off" does not resume), no real progress (beyond enabling
Fast Writes!).

So I also tried with the nv (open source) driver--and still got the same
behaviour.

That is, it appears to suspend to RAM, the power button flashes, so I
press it to resume, some disk activity, keyboard capslock and numlock
light up, some fan activity, screen stays blank, nothing else happens,
unresponsive...

I was told that the fact it behaves the same with the open source nv
driver suggests that my laptop, motherboard, bios doesn't have sufficent
ACPI support.

I understand I have a Phoenix BIOS.

I suppose not much can be gleaned from that?

Has anybody had success with suspend to RAM on Toshiba Satellite Pxx
models? E.g. P20 = P25 in USA and Europe.

I'm pretty sure it's not the video driver. I know Nvidia's driver README
states S3 suspend works for Toshiba Satellite P10. I just don't know
what else to look at.
