Seems like overheating of the cpu to me. When you boot linux, can you
tell if the cpu fan is ever on? Probably your linux never turns it on
and your cpu is being overheated when you do some demanding task. Try
compiling some source distribution to see if it happens then. If
indeed it is cou overheating, then I suggest to find out soon how to
make your cpu fan work in linux, otherwise you may fry your processor,
like you probably did with your previous laptop!
