This is good information, but I don't have anything at all 
under /proc/acpi/fan.

Are there any howtos or help files I could turn to that would help me fix 
this.  This Toshiba is the FIRST and only machine I've ever had that has this 
problem.  After two other laptops I can't imagine why Toshiba would be this 
out of whack.
