  When I tried /proc/acpi/fan/ there is nothing in this folder but Iit seems that my cooler is working and I have no propblem with it in fedora core 5 !!

You can probably check the fan by looking at
/proc/acpi/fan/FAN0/state. You may be able to control the fan with
fnfx. There is also a fan program in Toshiba Utilities that may
work. I don't know if your laptop have the Toshiba BIOS, or the
Pheonix BIOS. They do not work with the Pheonix BIOS. (I have an
A105-S4004, and tey do not work on it. The fan is not BIOS controlled.)

depending on your BIOS, you will need to use ACPI, or APM (I think
fnfx works with APM). Try installing fnfx first, since it is easier.
You can also try booting from the latest knoppix cd which has good
acpi support and see the /proc/acpi there. If it works with knoppix
then you need to recompile your kernel with acpi support (look for
howto's about ACPI).
