If you have a working Linux machine, or one you can boot a live CD
on, then use Linux to reformat them. You do not need to mount them
in order to erase/reformat the USB sticks.

You may also find the Linux Terminal Server project helpful.

I know that there is a PXE loader for Etherboot, and LTSP uses
Etherboot to load. I have not played with Netboot.
