Hi, Pip, I got this laptop recently from flea market, the model was only for Japan market while I am in China. I am not IT people, but, friend of mine advised that this type of chip may not be available in market anymore.

I was thinking this mailing list has connection to Japan users, therefore bearing a hope someone could help with.

not for sure if you have any idea about the model I am referring to, it's dyna ss 3439
only has 64mb memory.

as I said, I am not IT people, therefore, can not tell if this machine requires rambus stye chip or not. appreciate if you can tell further more about it.

  thanks

I take it that you are looking for some machine specific Rambus style
memory?

Maybe not?

Have you checked if something generic can be bought in town to do the
job? Maybe there is a local Toshiba dealer with a drawer full of what
you need... Sometimes you need to take these things back, so, to cut the
hassle, take the machine in and check the BIOS says what it should when
you put the new memory in. If not then you stand a chance of getting
your money back.
The price might be a good deal - remember how much RAM cost in the 386
era? if the shop in town has what you need then you can be in the world
of use-able RAM by tea-time with maximal Penguin Power before the post
arrives...
