Well, if you have a Phoenix BIOS  the laptop won't be supported by the
toshiba and/or toshiba_acpi kernel modules.

Instead, you need to obtain and install the omnibook kernel module in order
to have _some_ of the Fn-F* keys to work as well as some other hotkeys.

about the touchPAD, that was a second function (controls the volume of the

I don't understand very well your question here, but the TouchPad can be
supported either by the omnibook kernel module or by using the synaptics
driver (that is if you have a synaptics or ALPS TouchPad).

Now, if the TouchPad has a second function that controls the volume, well,
KToshiba only takes care of the Fn-F* combinations and hotkeys. And I don't
know if there's a  program that do it, however, try google and you  might be
lucky.
