Dear Derek S,

Your explanation is confusing and lacks information. I am not saying 
this to make you angry. I am giving this advice since it will be very 
useful in the future when you ask for help. Most people won't bother to 
answer if they don't understand what is your problem, what do you want 
to do and what have you tried already. I normally don't bother because 
it is too time-consuming and I hope somebody else would understand the 
problem and be able to answer.

This situation is worse if you are not a native english-speaker since 
then the communication is more difficult. I know because english is my 
second language. Thus, you have to be extremely clear and explain 
everything extremely well.

Now, to your problem.

1) What do you mean by "my browser cannot launch"? Does the window 
appears? Which browser is it? Konqueror? Mozilla? What pages do you try 
to visit? What happens there? What error do you get?

2) You said "I know how to setup windows network". So, how did you do 
it? Are you using DHCP, static IP? Are you configuring the DNS manually? 
Are you behind a proxy? You don't need to gives us the real numbers for 
privacy, you may use false numbers or even things like 136.148.XXX . 
However, it is important to know the details of what you are doing.

3) You say "I have set up up parameter", I personally don't understand 
this.  Also you say, "i do some pings say to default get
  way, i get a reply", does this mean that you do "ping 172.31.253.1" in 
GNU/Linux and you get a reply? That is great, your connection is 
working, at least some part of it.

4) Have you done anything at all to configure the network in GNU/Linux? 
What?

Everything above is information that you knew already and that you could 
have easily added to your mail. By not doing so, you make very difficult 
for people to answer you. First, because they have to guess your 
problem. Second, because when they understand your problem they may not 
be able to fix it, and it sometimes feels silly and wasted time to ask 
for more information about something that you may not be able to solve 
(I am feeling rather silly right now).

I hope this helps you somehow, if not with this particular problem, in 
another place and time.
