I did the following:
- Upgraded BIOS to 2.40
- Upgraded alsa to 1.0.14rc1.
- Changed the dsdt buggy code and recompile the module.
- Built a 2.6.17 kernel including the new dsdt using make menuconfig

Now, with acpi=on I can monitor temperature. Curiously, the laptop gets less
hot than before the bios upgrade.

ps. Mine is  a P100 with the 7300 chip.
