Cesar, I had a similar twilight-zone experience and called an authorized repair. I had a problem with my power supply in terms of the AC Adaptor, and they said that Toshiba had recognized the problem and is offering free repair until November. As the power supply went bad, my config file got corrupted, Windows XP said, and I would have to restore it. After backing up my disk when Windows warned me it was going to reformat the whole disk, I got "WRONG MACHINE" with a DOS A:> prompt at the lower left. This was the "recovery disk" which came with my laptop; I unsealed it at the time. I had been running a Linux partition for over a year. I was only using Windows to use my Printer/Fax/Copier, for which HP didn't have a Linux driver. You should check with Toshiba about your power supply and complain about this disk. I'm taking my computer in this afternoon for repair; they said it would take 5 days. The receptionist on the phone, who told me about the free repair, responded to my tale about the XP disk and "WRONG MACHINE" by saying "The DMI switch probably needs to be reset." When I asked her what a DMI switch means, she didn't know--only heard about it from the techs. Cesar Santamaria <[email protected]> wrote: HI all. I installed vmware server for getting windows installed inside my ubuntu. I try to use the recovery DVD of my Satellite L10, but kept on giving me a "MEMORY ALLOCATION FAILURE ERROR, CANT START COMMAND". I never understood why it happened. Has anybody tried it, or had any notion about it? I dont have a windows original CD(i dont think they send that anymore). Hope for an answer soon, Blessings. -- "God is waiting to give you a better kernel: the love of Christ. Open your source code. You'll never crash again" Dios te bendiga.
