To change brightness try this (as root), after load omnibook with ectype=01:

#echo 0 >> /proc/omnibook/lcd
This value change brightness to MINIMUM.

#echo 10 >> /proc/omnibook/lcd
This value change brightness to MAXIMUM.

You can use intermediate value too.

Fn+Fx keys don't work to me too, but I can change brightness writing in
lcd file available in /proc/omnibook.

Use command XEV (in konsole, write "xev" and press ENTER)... When xev is
running, type Fn + Fx keys and see in konsole if is present any output
