Thanks to all for the replies. To follow up. I had tried both ubuntu 6.10 and 7.04. I have tried several distros. While simplyMEPIS would boot and looked good it did not find the wireless card. The best so far has been Kanotix and even though there was some flashing of the display during boot after it was up all hardware including wireless, after simple setup, worked. However, I did not test the printer. Next best has been sidux however, I registered for the support forum and after several days haven't received a password email.  Again the wireless card wasn't found but, the release notes explained how to download and install firmware for the Intel Pro Wireless 4965 interface. I will try Ubuntu Gutsey. I did like the simplyMEPIS forums and support offered and may give it another try.
