I have a Toshiba a135-s2376 satellite and have Linux Slackware running with
the 64-bit 2.6.21.5 kernel which then provides Wifi madwifi, and other
features important like lba48. You could use this but Iám not sure what your
using. Do you have a ATI video card in your Toshiba.

Slackware is the oldest packagede Linux version and the founder has a
Doctorate.

Get the 2.6 kernel version 12.0 it has every thing you need and let me know
what´s going on.
I use XFS file system as it does take the abuse. You crash you run
xfs_repair /dev/sda1 - that simple.

I have fglrx running so there is a xconfig file for you, depending on your
Video card.
