To find the correct driver you'll want to look for a script called
"scan-modem".  As for the specs of that notebook, I'm not sure what it
uses.  I have an M35x-s149 and it uses the sl-modem driver.  Works
perfectly.  Note, that your provider must be linux friendly.  NetZero
will allow a connection but will redirect you to a page that talks about
getting support.  I'm not sure how much of this you know, but I'm here
to help if you have any other questions.
