Hi Glen, I make some comments about weights in an email to another chap but I didn't realize at the time he had replied directly so it never made it to the list. In short I changed the checktype from "negotiate" to "connect" and the weights appeared in ipvsadm and the whole system leap in to life. Too simple :-[ Thanks for your responses. -David.
