Custom Health Check

Hi all,
      I am a new user of ultramonkey. I have installed it for implementing HA & Load Balancing Solution in our company.  I have implemented that for clustering a service which runs on 5040 port. So right now in ldirectord I am using 'connect' check for 5040 port. But I want to make it 'negotiate' check. In other words I want to implement custom health check for real servers. I have checked all the documents on ultramonkey.org. and googled a lot. The only thing I have found is that it is possible to implement a custom health check and I can do that by changing code. But I din't find any practical example of it. I understand that for every service that customization is different. But just I want to know how to approach for that. Is there any need to change source code of ldirectord? If yes then which file to look for. Or Is there any need to change the server code which providing service on 5040 port. So please if some body has done this before or any body having knowledge of
 doing this guide me.
