Without giving any actual numbers, we easily do more than 100 Mbps and 
memory needs on the active LD << 512 MB (more like 256 MB), and CPU load 
is non detectable:

    > uptime
    11:54:04 up ## days, 20:53,  # users,  load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

The machines are SuperMicro 2.x GHz 1U servers which can be picked up 
for just under $800 each.
