Thanks for your quick response David. I do have a real IP address on the server configured on eth0 as xx.xxx.xx.44 and now that I have removed the loopback entry the server is responding fine on .44. Anything else I should look into before I try the loopback setup again? in my view since this is a loopback entry it should only response if the real IP is not responding isnt that the case ? Imran.
