RE: heartbeat prolem - two masters?

If I remember what ping does properly... then it lets heartbeat know
that its connection is dead, thus shutting it down as master...

That way when it's connection is restored, it won't be a master.

I couldn't find much on the ultramonkey site about the ping directive in
ha.cf.  But here is something on the linux-ha.org site

The original problem seems to be that if both balancers are down, then 
restored, they do not seem to realize this case, and both serve as
master.

Does adding a ping help in this case?
