hi tim,

this is a long shot, but you might consider a path like ours.
that is, we are not using the usagi kernel so i am ignoring that part of 
the pkg
initially.

my suggestion is, fetch the kernel.org version of the usagi kernel and 
build that
without any usagi interaction. that should result in  a kernel you can 
build and boot.

then using that as a template, you can compare that to your current 
failing kernel
and maybe the issue will pop out? i suggest a start by comparing the 
resulting
.config file from the kernel.org and the .config generated by the usagi 
kernel
instructions...
