an important point!

so in my humble 'lan', i have one linux box(fedora core 5) and my switch,
each using link-local addresses.

using ftp fe80::212:3fff:fe25:2728%eth0
and i got a connect just fine, i am thrilled! but then i try and talk to 
the remote as ...

230 Login successful.
ftp> dir   <-- i tried the windows version of ls, got no joy...
use of scoped address can be troublesome
500 Bad EPRT command.
500 Unknown command.
ftp: bind: Address already in use
ftp> ls  <--- so, ok fine, i am linux, how about ls? it too fails!

so seeing this error message, i am wondering is it because i am using the
link-local address? 

note these are the only 2 ipv6 members in my world...
i am off to read the rfc for assigning ipv6 addresses to check this out.
