The answers for "detecting buggy userspace", "determining API design correctness", "determining correct kernel implementation", and "testing kernel and API resilience to intentional misuse/misconfiguration" are all very different... Phrased differently: What information do you want to have after the test is complete, and what will you use it for? (I've seen more than once, somebody will post "We've been doing testing for 3 weeks, and can't seem to get XYZ to work", and the answer is "Don't bother trying, XYZ is Known Broken")
