It did change a lot, but the official CAPI20 spec and interface was not
changed. But here was a really bad bug in some inline helper functions, so
maybe the bugfix introduced some incompatibility, so you need to recompile
capi4hylafax with the new header files. If capi4hylafax already was
recompiled - forget this.

Did the old (working) version of the capi4k-utils already use the
modular version of libcapi20  or was it the monolitic libcapi20 version ?

Hmm, that was my first idea, try running c2faxsend standalone to get
some messages. I'm not aware that something related to hylafax make problems
now - I will try it here with AVM C2 or C4 to get more infos.

Only to be sure: c2faxsend works normal and does send a fax successful or
does "run normal" only mean it does not crash.
