It's not only there...

In a couple of cities KPN is removing all analogue lines and *dsl
equipment, and replacing it by fibre-to-the-home.

It has caused some unrest, because some (most elderly people) were not
willing to pay for any additional cost. I'll guess they were still using
rotary-dial phones ;-))))
