Yes, it was supposed to do so, but it never did.
I'd say the functionality or (sensible) use cases don't even overlap too much.
Whie the new mISDN seems like a better design, it's limited to use with LCR
and the CAPI addon.
I see them more like complimentary, although that's rather unfortunate :(
As far as moving things to staging goes: I personally can live with that, but
isn't the idea on staging to get things IN to the kernel, not to park stuff
someone wants to get OUT?
